How does the device work in practice?
The hunter sends with the help of the Quick button a location request to the dog. The dog unit receives the message and starts the positioning process. If GPS/GSM conditions are optimal the dog's unit sends an updated position within seconds. The location of the dog is displayed on the screen of the hunter's device.

How long has the Pointer Set been in the market?
The first Pointer Sets were sold in 2002. Since then the product has constantly been developed and adjusted to the customer demands. The Pointer Set has been the first GPS/GSM based product used in hunting.

Can you see the movement of the dog on the map all the time?
No. On the map you can see the position the dog had at the time of the last request. In addition the direction of the movement and the speed of the dog can be seen.

How fast can the connection to the dog be made?
The dog's position is usually received within app. 10-40 seconds after the request. The call connection is established within seconds.

Does the device work in dense forests?
GPS signals are weak and do not penetrate solid objects such as people, buildings, rocks or heavy tree cover. In areas without GPS reception the device will not work. The GPS reception in dense forests is limited and could influence the performance of the device.

Can more than one dog be tracked?
The hunter device can track up to 30 several targets (dogs).

Can several men track one dog?
The dog unit can send location information to an unlimited number of hunters. BUT it only can be tracked by one hunter unit at the time.
However, the owner of the device can define the numbers that are allowed to request position information from the dogs unit.

What map material is used in the hunter device?
Map material can be downloaded from the Internet provider Genimap.
Genimap provides topographical-, road- , and city maps as well as nautical charts. The map variety depends on the country. For more information please see http://www.genimap.com/Esc/index.jsp
Road- and street maps are also available on CD Rom.

When calling the dog unit how well can the barking be heard?
The hunter has the possibility to call the unit of the dog, after ringing twice the line opens automatically and the hunter can listen to the hound. The connection has the same quality as a normal phone call would have.

Can the device be used for small dogs?
Yes, the device can be used for small dogs. The dog device is attached to the dog with the help of a harness. The harness is available in four different sizes, see table below.
